Grand Canyon - Eastern Rim

OK !!! This is what it was all about !!!
The train/bus tour was fine but for the full effect, a self guided trip around the eastern rim has what I came for. The highway parallels the train route and you drive up into the "Village" was shopping IS a must.
Once you stock up on water, you take off east. The route is motorhome capable but I wouldn't want to drive a big one towing a vehicle on it. The Park Service has done a great job (finally a good use of my tax dollars), in keeping the traveler informed with signs and many, many GREAT overlooks. I had heard that overcrowding was a problem here but we never experienced any (time of year? ... before schools are out?).
This really was the day I had hoped to spend seeing the canyon and was not disappointed IN THE LEAST!
